Ice Ice Baby

We had a good freeze over this past week...very frozen over. The ground, roads, roof, everything had a layer of ice. School was delayed and canceled and delayed- as well as house stuff.

But today we are off and running. Plumber is in the house- roofer is on the house putting shingles down. Very exciting times!

SNOW!!!!!

In almost any other circumstance, we would be excited to see snow. But not right now! The framers have not finished sheathing the trusses and we had the roofers all lined up to get the house covered up. We have to wait for things to warm up before we can get the next subs in. AAUGHHH!

Horse Play

We really have enjoyed amazing weather the last few weeks and spent quite a bit of time- in between piano- scouts etc.- at the house. Parker has found a new friend. We think he thinks it's a big dog. And the horse is so patient with him! Nicer then most of the doggie friends he has:) Maybe because he knows that he can kick him if he really gets annoying.

Wow! Words cannot describe....

I felt a lot better tonight after we dropped in and said hello to our good friends Matt & Amy Durst who are building- on our old lot in Cottonwood Springs. When we told them we were framing Amy asked me if I was nervous--- and I said, "Yes!" Ted wanted me to be jumping for joy but my reaction was more like, "Whoah...this is not how I was picturing it in my head at all." The master bedroom was a lot smaller then I thought it would be- the master bathroom was actually right on. The pantry and craft room are HUGE! and the living room was a lot smaller then I was hoping. Amy asked me if I was looking at everything second guessing myself and feeling like it was too small- and that's exactly how I felt. If you're going to put this much time and effort into something... but she reassured me that she felt the same way and the feeling will go away. I wonder if it goes away because you're so burnt out you just stop caring- or if it all just starts to come together and you see the big picture- a little of both probably.

I hope that I didn't sound ungrateful- I am very very very grateful!! And excited!!! It is amazing to see it unfold.

And we have just been blessed left and right with good weather- good contractors- good friends and family to help us see this through. You can see the ominous dark sky in the background looking like it's going to storm- it just turned into a beautiful sunset instead!!

How Firm a Foundation!

My kids have been learning this song in primary this year...they know it well...and this morning Adam asked if they were pouring the firm foundation on our house yet! I thought that was so precious!

It is so much fun to see this process starting...however- I feel so strongly that the most important foundation I can lay right now is for my children. And it would be horrible to have a house with a strong foundation- and a family with a weak one.

Power & Water & Forms- oh my!

The electrician went out and hooked up our temporary power supply--- the plumber went out to hook up water--- and the forms are being set for pouring the beginning of next week! Aghhhhh! I can't believe this is really happening. I am so nervous.

New Neighbor

Just wanted to post a picture of our new neighbor...

House Hole!

Yes- we have a big house hole that was saturated with water and is now ready to be filled with cement. Pending some blockhead sitting at her desk (that my taxes paid for) picking her nose and waiting to press send on her lap top (that my taxes paid for) because we are not next in line...we're not upset about this or anything!

Adam said, "Cool! We're gonna have a swimming pool!"

Transformers down the road!

No...sorry- not the cool transforming kind. Well, Ted and I think they are cool! They will provide power to four different households eventually- which is a lot more power then transformers have! The green top that most recognize is not on them yet... I think they did that today because when I drove by I saw a bunch of PUD trucks out there.

Okay...

Forget the day 1-day 2-day 3 thing. That's not going to happen. But here are some pictures of the process. Ted really has done an amazing job pulling this all together. It was just a random idea a few months ago- and look how it has all fallen into place. As the wise turtle in "Kung Fu Panda" says, "There are no accidents!" I feel so blessed to be where we are at in our lives.
Only a couple pictures this time because my computer keeps telling me I have internal errors.

I appreciate more every day all that Ted had to do and all the knowledge he has had to acquire in order to get this project accomplished. I've seen and heard him on the phone and running around during lunch breaks and after work- but watching him interact and know what he's talking about with all the contractors- while I stand there with a goofy smile- helped me realize he can be enthusiastic about something, well there are a couple of other things that he's enthusiastic about.

Dirt on top of dirt- actually I think this is sand to help fill in all the trenches we have to dig for water etc.

Day 1

Building permit!

We staked the house today!

Off we go...

We'll see if I can really keep this blog up- I'd love to but I don't know how realistic it is!
